Contaminated process streams
Aqueous industrial process streams can be contaminated with microorganisms. This can lead to a serious loss of quality in the end product. In the worst case, the end product cannot be used. Contamination with microorganisms is an issue in all branches of industry, regardless of whether they are processes in the food industry, beverage industry, water industry, automotive industry, etc.
Finding contamination
Detecting microbial contamination in process water using conventional microbiology is a difficult or often impossible task. Many bacteria do not grow on artificial media and therefore remain undetected. Nevertheless, they are present in the process stream and reduce the quality of the product.
Finding the causes with VIT
With VIT® gene probe technology, microbial contamination in the process streams can not only be identified and quantified, but the cause of the problem can also be traced and eliminated.
This means that VIT® is a modern tool that can finally be used for comprehensive analysis of industrial and microbially induced problems.
VIT® Profiling
In VIT® Profiling, VIT® is used together with other microbiology methods to track microbial contamination flows and identify the causes. This globally unique method can be used to comprehensively and holistically identify and solve microbiological problems in industry.
It is often worth using VIT® Profiling even if it is unclear whether microorganisms are actually responsible. In many cases, it is not obvious at first glance and by conventional means that the problems have been caused by microbial contamination. VIT® prof iling and its independence from cultivability therefore help to quickly clarify the situation.
