Comparison with other technologies
Compared to conventional, cultivation-based methods, Flow VIT® enables faster and more powerful analysis of Lactobacillus plantarum. Even non-cultivable but viable cells (VBNC) can be identified and quantified. Compared to other molecular biological methods, Flow VIT® stands out due to its ability to detect only living cells and to reliably quantify them even in complex samples. Since no enzymes are used, the method is extremely robust and reliable. Flow VIT® is a direct method that stains the cells highly specifically and evaluates them directly using automated flow cytometry.
