IFAT 2024 Highlights

The world's leading international trade fair for water, wastewater, waste and
raw materials management will take place in Munich from 13 to 17 May 2024.

We are very pleased to be part of IFAT 2024 and to welcome you personally in Hall C1, Stand 216!

This year, we will be presenting two particularly relevant areas of wastewater monitoring: biological phosphate elimination and epidemiological wastewater monitoring. We offer you a detailed introduction to the respective topics, including practical examples and applications, in our workshops directly at the stand.

Are you planning to visit IFAT 2024? Then don't miss the opportunity and register now for the workshops that are convenient for you. Participation is free of charge.

Biological phosphate elimination

Date: 15 & 16 May
Time: 14:00 - 14:20 (plus Q&A session)
Location: Hall C1, Booth 216

A particular focus will be on determining the Bio-P potential in municipal wastewater treatment plants and on engineering and microbiological options for process optimisation.

The presentation will be held in German language.

Wastewater-Based Epidemiological Monitoring

Date: 14 May
Time: 14:00 - 14:20 (plus Q&A session)
Location: Hall C1, Booth 216

The EU has recently extended the existing Directive 91/271/EEC to include the monitoring of viruses in municipal wastewater in order to be able to respond to public health challenges at an early stage. During the workshop, we will report on how epidemiological wastewater monitoring can be successfully implemented in practice.

The presentation will be held in German language.

Pay us a visit!

Do you have any questions and would like to find out more about microbiological wastewater monitoring, its benefits and implementation options? Then don't hesitate to make a non-binding appointment with our specialist advisors directly on site.

We look forward to your visit!

Fields of application of wastewater monitoring

Prevention of faults with VIT® SafeGuard

With VIT® SafeGuard, the biology of the plant is continuously monitored and optimized taking into account the process parameters. For this purpose, vermicon AG works together with its partners and wastewater experts H2Ortner GmbH from Passau, who are responsible for the technical establishment of VIT® SafeGuard.

The tool for the holistic and systematic analysis of microorganisms and their mutual relationships is used in the area of quality assurance and operational fault management and serves to prevent malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant.

Epidemiological wastewater monitoring

The new 91/271/EEC Waste Water Directive obliges EU countries to monitor and document certain health-relevant parameters in municipal waste water. These include the SARS-CoV-2 virus, polio and influenza viruses as well as other pathogens. Due to the complex composition of wastewater, the reliable detection of bacteria and viruses is a challenging task. As a pioneer in wastewater microbiology, vermicon AG has been dedicated to establishing a robust and highly specific detection system for analyzing SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater and the connected sewer systems since the beginning of 2021.
