vermicon AG and H2Ortner GmbH join forces for the optimisation and stabilisation of biological wastewater treatment plants
Hallbergmoos & Passau, 12.09.2023 - vermicon AG and H2Ortner GmbH present the new monitoring system VIT® SafeGuard - the individually customisable complete solution for the monitoring of biological wastewater treatment. Through the unique integration of direct microbiological wastewater monitoring and real-time monitoring of process parameters, VIT® SafeGuard offers a pioneering approach to optimising wastewater treatment plants.
Changes in the environmental conditions of wastewater treatment plants can have negative effects on the microbiology and thus cause serious disruptions in the treatment performance. They are mostly the result of a disturbed wastewater biocoenosis. As a result, the effluent levels worsen long-term, leading to contamination of the receiving water. Up until now it has not been possible to monitor the wastewater biocoenosis and therefore no early corrective intervention has been possible. To meet this challenge, the engineers at H2Ortner are working closely with the microbiologists at vermicon AG to ensure optimum coordination of microbiological, process engineering and chemical values. The result of this close cooperation is VIT® SafeGuard, an innovative early warning system that recognises undesirable developments in the microbiology and their causes at an early stage, thus enabling efficient countermeasures to be taken in a timely manner. The continuous measurement and evaluation of data together with a tailored catalogue of measures creates a reliable early warning system that supports a sustainable process optimisation.
"With VIT® SafeGuard, the biocenosis is monitored precisely and systematically. The data obtained from this provides valuable information about the stability of the plant," explains Dr Jiri Snaidr, CEO of vermicon AG. "Thanks to the intelligent combination of microbiological and process engineering wastewater monitoring, we can take targeted measures to sustainably optimise the purification performance and detect disruptions at an early stage."
The collaboration between H2Ortner GmbH and vermicon AG represents a powerful partnership based on many years of experience and expertise. "Through the synergy of our expertise, we maximise cleaning performance, prevent malfunctions and minimise energy costs," adds Josef Ortner, Managing Director of H2Ortner, "Stability, cost reduction and environmental protection are the focus of our joint solution."
The launch of VIT® SafeGuard represents a significant advance in the monitoring and optimisation of biological wastewater treatment plants. WWTP operators can benefit from improved treatment performance, increased operational safety and more cost-efficient processes.
