Improved plant control quite simple

VIT-Microthrix: simplified procedure

Microthrix parvicella is the main producer of floating sludge and foam particularly at municipal wastewater treatment plants. Just at the season's change from fall to winter an increasing growth of the filament appears. To avoid settling problems in wastewater purifaction, based on the unnoticed growth of Microthrix a systematic and continuous monitoring of Microthrix filaments has been proven.

In the last years vermicon AG's detection system VIT-Microthrix was established as controlling- and early warning system in wastewater industry. The test is easy to apply and the filamentous bacteria can be detected even in dense sludge flocks rapidly and reliably in the plant's laboratory. Due to a really simple but reliable quantification system the quantitative measurement of Microthrix filaments present in the aeration tank can be rapidly performed. So the situation at the plant can be quickly evaluated – precious time is saved which can be spent for taking effective counteractive measures.

Through continuous control of the microbiological situation at a wastewater treatment plant problems are noticed already while they arise and the costs which arise to eliminate the problems can be massively reduced. Dosage of expensive flocculants to reduce bulking- and floating sludge can be carried out more adapted and precisely. Moreover, dosage need to last only as long as the Microthix counts exceed an individually defined threshold. Thus, the continuous microbiological monitoring reduces considerably the costs for flocculants within shortest time.

NEW: Simplified and faster than ever

The application of the VIT-Microthrix testkit is quite simple. In order to make the test system even better integrable in daily`s work, vermicon AG further optimized the procedure. From now, the analysis of wastewater samples can be made even more comfortable and faster. The saving of working time is immense – results clear and reliable as always.
