Lighting the wastewater black box
Microbiological wastewater analysis
Filamentous bacteria are often cause to problems arising in wastewater treatment plants. Especially due to variations in temperature filaments, which cause bulking and floating sludge as well as scum forming, occur increasingly. With temperatures being relatively low during the current season an increase in hazardous bacteria forming is to be expected.
In order to prevent such contaminations large amounts of chemicals are often used. The composition of the activated sludge, however, stays mostly unmonitored, so containment of the filament occurrence is provided as mere reaction to it. In contrast, vermicon AG provides wastewater treatment plants and their contracting laboratories with services and products to actively monitor bulking and floating sludge causing filamentous bacteria or to monitor the amount and activity level of Nitrificants contained. The composition of the sludges may therefore be continuously controlled and irregularities are identified upon their first occurrence. Thus, the application of precipitants can be punctually regulated saving you both money and time.
The "bacterial fingerprint"
In addition to these analysis vermicon AG also provides for a large number of further microbiological wastewater analysis services. One of them is our bacteria characteristic profiling for your treatment plant – creating a “bacterial fingerprint” - in order to monitor decomposing micro-organisms at all times. Also, we offer specific analysis regarding Phosphate elimination as well as regarding the organisms causing ANNAMOX®. We thus literally shed some light into the dark depth of the black box we call wastewater.
We know and identify the micro-organisms being the main troublemakers in your wastewater treatment plant. Therefore, we can spot problems upon their arising and prevent them. “Positive” processes such as nitrification and denitrification may thus be stabilised and facilitated. Furthermore, a functioning early warning system can only be established with micro-organisms being already detected.
Our VIT® gene probe technology is applied as key element in our VIT products for all vermicon services. We thereby provide the sole existing method to create an extensive, highly specific, visual as well as quantitive picture of the microbiology contained in wastewater treatment plant sludge.
All services are conducted in our internal laboratories. We provide you with valuable results leaving no room for doubts but allow for specific guidance as to your individual solutions. In addition, our tests may also be conducted by our customers themselves. All detection technologies are available as handy test kits with guaranteed simple handling. They can hence easily be integrated into your lab work routine. Our kits also include our so called VIT key applied in semi-quantitative analysis.
Due to the very short analysis time needed – whether you make use of our services or of our test kits – you will quickly gain insight into the microbiology contained in your wastewater treatment plant or contracting factory. You thus may take economic measures quickly and reliably whilst saving both chemicals and money.
